The building dates back to the 13C but it has since been altered. The tower topped with an arrow, for example, is the work of Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. Among the funeral pieces, the monument dedicated to King Erik XIV (south side of the ambulatory) is particularly noteworthy: it is made of black marble and stands on a red-sandstone base from Öland; also note the imposing black and white marble mausoleum of the counts of Brahe, decorated with alabaster figures, the three Flemish altarpieces and a triumphal crucifix (14C).
